Digital devices are dramatically shifting the way we live. With a few clicks, we are able to connect with people across the world, order food from the comfort of our homes, and access data from anywhere with a stable internet connection. This digital shift is keeping the global demand for electronic devices on an uptrend. Each year the total usage of these products increases by 2.5 million metric tons. For many, a smartphone can be a significant asset. However, the convenience of technology has unintended consequences. It promotes incessant production and disposal, with little opportunity for material reuse.
